April Travel and Fun Column

Welcome to spring though will we notice the difference after the non-winter we "suffered" through?  We are between outings, so you can expect another short column.  We will make up for the lack of news in May.

March 13 to 16, Travel and Fun celebrated Saint Paddy's Day at an outing in the home park with Loretta Rott's corned beef and cabbage and Marcella Peterson's soda bread.  The hosts, Rotts, Maves and Sandes, provided a weekend of green fun and games, including card bingo with a twist.  Look for the rest of the story in this spot next month.

April 10 to 13, the club will travel to our brother lodge, the Port Townsend 317, for an outing in their RV park.  The lodge has a new shelter; and the hosts, the Lewis's, Davis's and Blankenships, have planned a festive weekend.  Friday evening dinner will be at the lodge, a buffet dinner from Chef Randall; and Saturday afternoon Hamburgers on the Deck.

The hosts will provide breakfast Friday morning, happy hour on Saturday, and a taco dinner Saturday evening.  After dinner, Joyce Cordova will introduce us to a new game.  Bring lots of quarters.

Fiesta dress is encouraged.

May, Travel and Fun treks over the mountains to Ellensburg's E & J RV Park for an outing hosted by the Maves and Bernhards. (The park has an indoor
swimming pool and hot tub.)   And in June, down to the coast to Kampers West
at Warrenton, OR, hosted by the Spongs.  Volunteers for co-hosts are welcome.

A by-laws committee has been appointed to look at changes to the finance portion of club bylaws.  Members are Ed Lively (chair), Bill Spong, Sam Josephson, Vivian Bernhard and Dan Grasser.

SUNSHINE:  Dick Davis reported on the health of Bunny Hudanich and former member Joyce Easton, both living in Yuma.  If you have any news about the health of a member, call our Sunshine Chair, Joyce Cordova, at 360-981-0830.

By the way, there were only thirty-three people at the Durkee's annual Valentine's brunch in Yuma.  There used to be upwards of sixty.

Dick and Stella Davis are chairing the raffle for the swing set, now on display in the lodge lobby.  They need members to sell at Hamburgers on the Patio through the end of June.  To volunteer, call 373-2908.  Al Sande built the very fine swing and matching table.

Travel and Fun mans Hamburgers in May and September,  Ed Lively is lining up cooks for May with openings the 10th and 24th. to participate, call Ed at 373-7617.

There was an omission in the last issue.  At the February meeting, Juanita Spong provided Valentine Day cookies, and Bill and Juanita raffled off gifts from their business.  Thanks for the treats.

Prior to the start of the April meeting, Chuck Arnold of the Power Shop will be hand to discuss improving RV power.

Dues are due.

This column is provided by email to members with a good address.  If you wish to receive it by email, drop me a note.

The April regular meeting is Monday, the 14th, chatter at 6:00 pm and the meeting at 7.  Guests are welcome at any Travel and Fun function.

If you have comments or suggestions, call 373-6416 or email garydawg@msn.com.
