Elks 1181 Travel and Fun RV Report, November 2003
Our sympathies go to Stella Davis for the loss of her sister and to Dick and Natalie Miller for the loss of their son.
CORRECTION for next year's Camp Out Schedule: The October 2004 outing at Rest-A-While RV Park will be October 21-24, 2004.
The officers of Travel-N-Fun hosted the October outing at Midway RV Park in Centralia. Nineteen rigs (those of us who are not traveling south at this time of the year) attended and participated in the schedule of events. More will be reported on this outing in the next column.
The Thanksgiving meeting and dinner at the Sons of Norway on November 10 will be hosted by Bill and Cindy Varsafsky (360-373-6719). Meet and greet at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 and the meeting at 7 p.m. Payment for your dinner ($14 per person) must be made by November 5.
Friday, December 12 is our holiday dinner at the Lodge. Larry and Janice Watson are hosting this event. The cost is $12 per person. Contact Lorraine Maves or Janice Watson for information regarding the dinner.
Our secretary read a proposed amendment to our Bylaws. Article IV Section 13 would be changed as follows: "The President shall serve no more than two consecutive terms." This proposed amendment would remove the words "and the Director-Member at Large." This proposed amendment is to be read at the November meeting, discussion will be had, and a vote taken. The purpose of the Bylaw amendment is to remove the time limit for service by the Member at Large.
SUNSHINE: Al Packard is recovering nicely and the rest of us are holding our own!
Sue Sewell and Margie Harper were winners at the meeting and George and Wavil Wilhite lost out by being on vacation. Sorry, George.
As we are fast approaching the end of our term as head wagon masters, Bud and I say 'thank you' and 'well done' to all who volunteered to host or co-host the camp outs, brunches, and dinners these last three years. We hope you will support Chris Blankenship as well as you have supported us.
And for all you lovers of words, I leave you with the following sentiment: "Those who get too big for their britches will be exposed in the end."
