He’s back after over a two year absence, Gary Blankenship is again the editor of this column. Sherie Lewis (with Gary) is moving up to Wagonmaster. A special thanks to Sherie for her fine reporting and to the departing officers - President Skip Lampman, and Trustee Darrell Schmittler – for all they’ve done for the club.
In the January Reminder, Sherie asked for memories of the 1999 Northwest Elks Rally. Let me start with one of my own: Travelers to a rally usually arrive on Wednesday or Thursday. In ’99, a large number were due to come in Thursday, most from the south via the Tacoma Narrow’s Bridge. That day, there was an accident on the bridge that backed up traffic for miles. As a result, many Elk RVs arrived to the Fairgrounds in the evening as late as 7 and 8 pm. In order to feed these tired and hungry travelers, we kept our kitchen open with a full menu until about 10. A long day for the cooks, but in my view, a great way to support our Brother Elks.
Host Barb Fallehy, and her elves - Kathy Josephson, Karen and Sam Belling, Judy Lampman, Sharon Lillybridge, and Norm – did an outstanding job for the Club’s Christmas Dinner at the Elks. Thank you, guys for the great evening.
There is still time to make reservations for the Valentine’s Brunch at the Airport Diner on February 15th at 9 am. No advance payment is required. Call Bea or Al Sande at 360-275-2182 if you wish to attend.
We still need hosts for the Home Park outing March 12 to 15. If you wish to host or help with another outing in any way, please call Wagonmasters Gary and Sherie at 360-692-6505. Hosts are also needed for June at Bayshore in Tokeland, August at Glen Ayr in Hoodsport, and September at Hoquiam RV Park.
Dues are due. Make payment to Kathy Josephson at a meeting or call her at 360-692-8642 for mailing instructions.
The February meeting is the 9th at the Lodge at 7 pm.
