TRAVEL 'N FUN COLUMN

Travel N Fun Column May 2009

Our Sympathies to the family and friends of member Bill Hilberg for his passing.

The Bremerton Elks Lodge voted to name the home RV park in honor of the late William (Bill) Wischhoefer.  Bill, or Willie as some of us knew him, was an vital part of the Travel Club.  He and his wife Katie, along with other RV friends, were instrumental in implementing "Hamburgers of the Patio" at the Lodge.  Willie was also influential in establishing the RV park and shelter. He worked tirelessly to maintain and upgrade the park.  Travel N Fun will purchase a plaque to designate the newly named park.

The March outing at our home park was great.  Twelve RV's made the long trek to the Bremerton Elks RV Park and were joined by many other members for the outing.  Friday evening 35 Travel N Fun members had a great dinner at the lodge.  Saturday many had Hamburgers on the Patio and a light dinner at the shelter followed by card bingo.  Congratulations to the big winner Linda Gomez. Sunday morning 17  RVers' enjoyed the lodge's monthly breakfast buffet and a few rigs stuck around for an extra day due to snow (yuk!).  Thanks to everyone who helped with the outing.

Our May 13-17 outing is at Harmony Lakeside RV Park.  If you would like to attend and have not made reservations through the outing hosts, you must make them directly with the park at (360) 983-3804.  Make sure you let the park know you are with the Bremerton Elks Travel Club so they will give you our rate.  Hosts for the outing are the Bellings, Fahellys, and Lampmans.  Notify any of them if you make individual reservations with the park.

June 17th-20th we travel to Bayshore RV Park in Tokeland.  Hosts are the Josephsons, Schmittlers, and Van Zees.  A $25 advance is required by June15.  Provide to Kathy Josephson  ((360) 692-8642).

The 41st Northwest Elks' RV Rally sign-up packets have arrived.  If you would like to attend but will not be attending the meetings, please contact Lorene Brannan at (360) 373-7936.  She must receive your check and registration by 10 June or an additional $10.00 (penalty) must be included with your registration.  The Rally will be July 16-19 at the Land Yacht Harbor in Lacey Washington.  All RV spots have water, power and sewer hookups.  Registration includes your RV spot for three nights, three continental breakfasts, two catered dinners, games and live onstage entertainment.    The registration fee for a rig with 2 people is $205, $150 for a rig with one person.  (Early arrivals must pay for extra nights.)  Friday morning golf (18 holes) at the Capitol City Golf Course is $45 per person plus cart fee if needed.
