TRAVEL 'N FUN REMINDER

September Travel N Fun Column

Congratulations to Kathy Higdon, winner of the 2010 patio set. She and Dan are enlarging their deck, so I doubt she will be looking to store it elsewhere (say at our house).

A hearty thanks to Lorene Brannan for chairing ticket sales, Darrell Schmittler for building the beautiful set and Kathy Josephson for the chair cushions.

Congratulations are also in order for Club members who came away winners at the July 2010 Rally in Rickreal, Oregon:  Sherie Lewis a homemade quilt and Janice Watson and Judy Gertsch Rally raffle prizes.  Chris Blankenship’s team placed second in the golf best ball tournament.

Eleven rigs traveled to the Polk County fairgrounds for the Northwest Elks Rally.  The weather was a bit warm and the fairground’s power sometimes would not keep up with A/C demands, but the campers had a good trip, worked had at our book sale, and had some time for a bit of sight-seeing.

Next year, the Rally will be hosted by Travel N Fun at Lacey’s Land Yacht Harbor from July 20 -24.   Rally Chair is Gary Lewis.

Looking for a good meal?  Drop in to the Raging River Steak Co, Main St, Independence OR.  A unanimous two thumbs up from the Bremerton RVers.

Nineteen Travel N Fun campers made the Alaska cruise non-outing in July – seven days to Skagway and back – too many miles of food with not a potluck in sight.

September, we trek to Toppenish and the Yakama Nations RV Park – hosts the Halls, Lewises and Schmittlers.  Planned events are a a Wednesday dinner at the Pioneer Kitchen, unhosted Thursday BBQ, Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast by the hosts, and Saturday potluck.    Sunday, before they head home, campers may partake of the buffet at the Heritage Inn Restaurant adjacent to the RV park.

October is the annual Officer’s Outing at Rest-a-while in Hoodsport (and another chance to eat at the Tides).  Monday, November 8 at the Lodge, will be the Thanksgiving dinner meeting hosted by the Higdon/Grassers and Van Zees.  The Christmas dinner will be at the Lodge December 10th.

Sandy Hall is chair of the Nominating Committee.  If you are interested in a Club office, give her a ring at 360-830-3051.

September’s meeting is a potluck at the Shelter – Monday the 13th.  Greet at 5 (or earlier), eat at 6, meet at 7.  Elections will held at this meeting.  (Thanks Gary and Sherie for the August burgers and dogs.)  October 11, the general meeting returns to the lodge at 7 pm.

SUNSHINE:  Sherie reported on illness for Joanne Foskett.   Please contact Sherie at 360-692-6505 if you have Sunshine news.

For dues payment or membership information, call Kathy Josephson, 360-692-8642.   Prospective members are always welcome as guests at outings or meetings.

New rosters are available.  Call Sherie for your copy.  Labels are available for changes.

Historian Karen Belling needs outing pictures, rosters etc for the Club records.
