TRAVEL 'N FUN COLUMN
February 2006 Travel N Fun Column

Our sympathies to…the family and friends of Chris Grevstad.  Have a good journey, Camper.

…to Judy Gertsch for the loss of her mother Ruby Johnson.

…to Sherie Lewis for the loss of her mother, Rose Signal.

The February Valentine’s Brunch will be at Christa Shores in Silverdale from 9:45 to 11:45 on the 12th, hosted by the Blankenships.  Cost is $8.50 per person, payable at the brunch.  Call 373-6416 if you wish to sign up.

March’s outing will be at the home park in Bremerton, the 16th to 19th, hosted by the Rotts and Sandes.  April, we go back to American Sunset in Westport, the 20th to 22nd (a date change).   Hosts are the Josephsons, Schmittlers and Goulds, who say the menu will be similar to last years, though anything can happen.

We have hosts for the outings at the Hood River Rally (Merle Lewis and Lorene Brannan, June 29-July 2), American Heritage for bluegrass (Blankenships and D. Gertschs, September 7-9, date change), Rest-a-While for the Officer’s Outing (October 12-14, date change). Thanksgiving dinner meeting at Sons of Norway (Greens, November 13).

Hosts are needed for May 11-13 (a date change), Swiss Colony at Lebam; July 20-22, Bayshore at Tokeland; August 24-26 (a date change), Outback at Rochester; and the Christmas Dinner at the Lodge, December 8.

Please notice the date changes, which occurred for a variety of reasons.

SUNSHINE:  Judy reported on illness or injury for George Wilhite, June Vanderstaay, Vern Rott, Leonard Biskeborn and Ted Morneau.  Judy may be reached at (360) 895-2304.

DUES ARE DUE.  The new membership chair is Bea Sande.  Dues may be paid at any meeting or mailed to her.  The address in the old rosters is correct if you do not have a new roster.  Her phone is (360) 275-2182.

Speaking of rosters:  Juanita Spong has printed new copies to correct printing errors.  You may get a version at any meeting.  If you can not come to a meeting and desire one mailed to you, call Juanita at (360) 895-8797.  They will be mailed to shut-ins and those out of the area.

Bill Spong as lots of Elk park books, flags, flag-holders and pins for sell at discounted prices.  By-the-way, Bill has been working Hot-dogs on the Patio for the Club and may call for help.

Ann Smith has volunteered to co-chair Hamburgers on the Patio, but needs a co-chair.  Travel N Fun cooks and serves in May and September.  We need a historian, swing set raffle chair, and editor (The old scribbler has been penning your column for nearly seven years.  Sales for the latter will start in late April with the raffle to be held at the Lodge’s Family picnic.  Last year’s ticket sales went for a Lodge window and heaters in the RV Park restrooms.

The heaters have been installed by BPOE members Joe Showman and Cal Ehly.  They also repaired a broken glass on the fireplace.  Thank you, Brothers.

The next meeting will be Monday, February 13 at the Lodge.  Greet at six, meet at seven.

If you have any questions, news or comments, call 373-6416 or email gardawg@msn.com.
