August 2005 Travel N Fun Column
Late news from the June Port Townsend outing: See Merle for lunch. He was the big winner in Card Bingo, taking the dollar pot and others. But the Darrell Schmittler hit the biggest hand – First he was dealt a royal flush in push poker, then dealt himself another straight flush with 4 wild cards. However, he was also the first out that pot.
Thanks to Port Townsend Lodge 317 for their great hospitality, RV park and shelter, Friday night dining and Saturday hamburgers.
As we have reported before, in July we were at the Northwest Elk’s Rally at the Port Townsend Fairgrounds, over 20 rigs attending (and we have the best parking at the rally – near the game area and showers.) In addition to the Janice Watson basket, Sherie Lewis, Stephanie Schmittler, and Lorene Brannan are providing another for the rally drawing. And Chris Blankenship is donating a 9 foot X 9 foot canopy to raffle with the BBQ being donated by Merle.
Changes to 2006 outing schedule: April 20 to 22, we will return to Westport’s American Sunset, the same weekend as the crab races. The Rotts and Sandes will host March at the home lodge and the Blankenships will host September at American Heritage in Olympia (the Blues Festival).
Remember to let Bill Spong know if you want to take your rig to the Lodge’s Family Picnic, August 7th.
SUNSHINE: There is no sunshine to report. If you have Sunshine, call Judy Gertsch at 360-895-2304.
Gary Lewis and Dick Davis are the nominating committee. Call them to run for an office.
Final collections for the swing set will be at the picnic. Please turn in your money then or even earlier. The winning ticket for swing built by Darrell will be drawn at the picnic.
August’s meeting will be the 8th, a potluck at the shelter – greet at 5, dinner at 6, meeting at 7. Remember this is back to the second Monday.
