TRAVEL N FUN COLUMN MAY 2005

Our sympathies to Wayne McKiernan and family and friends of Dolly Vietch; and to the family and friends of Robbie Robertson.

Are you crabby?  If so, you would have enjoyed the April outing at American Sunset in Westport.  The outing, held the weekend of Westport’s crab festival April 14 to 17, was hosted by the Schmittlers, Josephsons and Goulds.  The “Biscuit Babes” made Caramel Pull-Aparts for Friday’s breakfast and served biscuits and gravy for Saturday’s.  With Ivar’s help, the hosts cooked the campers chowder for dinner Saturday, the perfect meal for our April winter weather.

May 19-22 we travel to the Puyallup Elks for an outing hosted by the Brooks, Sandes and Davis’s.  They have a casino night planned.  June 16-19 takes us to the Port Townsend Elks, the outing hosted by Gary and Sherie Lewis.  Jim and Peggy Brooks have agreed to run holiboards at the Northwest Elk’s RV Rally; however, we still need a chair for the 50-50 raffle.  The Rally is July 14-17 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.  Lorene Brannen has registration packages.

We need hosts for the outings August 18-21 at Hoquiam RV Park and September 15-18 at Outback RV in Rochester.

SUNSHINE:  There is none to report.  If you have any, call Judy Gertsch at 360-895-2304 or Gary B at the number below.

The Club voted to buy a window for the Lodge’s replacement project.

ATTENTION, PRICES REDUCED:  Flags are $6 instead of the usual $9 and 5 flag holders are $6 instead of $8.  Prices will be good until the 16th of June.  The Spongs are also taking orders for sleeved sweatshirts crimson for $32 each and vests in cream or gray for $34.

DUES ARE DUE.

Larry Watson and Juanita Spong presented their new roster format.  Soon, they will be compiling the new booklet.  If you have an address change, new phone, cell phone or email address, please call Cathy Higdon at 360 710-3419.  The more changes she has when data entry starts, the easier their task will be.

Larry is considering holding a Saturday computer seminar for members.  He will be surveying the Club for topics, and then will set a date for the session.

Dick and Stella Davis (373-2908) have swing set raffle tickets for members to peddle to family and friends.

The hamburger chairs, Bill and Darlene Green, need cooks for May 14 and 28.  Call 377-5021 to sign up.

The next general meeting is May 9 at the Lodge.  The meeting starts at 7:00 pm.  We usually arrive early for popcorn, talk and refreshments.

If you have any question, news or comments, call 373-6416 or email garydawg @msn.com.
