TRAVEL 'N FUN COLUMN
March 2006 Travel N Fun Column

Our sympathies to the family and friends of past member, Morris Churchman.

The Valentine’s Brunch was held Sunday, February 12th. at Christa Shores in Silverdale, hosted by the Blankenships.  Attendees enjoyed a great brunch prepared by Adam Blankenship and his staff, a great view and good company.  The favorite seemed to be waffles and strawberries, but love the scones.  The ladies received a chocolate rose and gentlemen assorted candies.

March’s outing will be at the home park in Bremerton, the 16th to 19th, hosted by the Rotts and Sandes, assisted by the Petersons and Turners.  A dinner by the hosts and games are planned.

April, we go back to American Sunset in Westport, the 20th to 22nd.   Hosts are the Josephsons, Schmittlers and Goulds, who are planning a great time and good food for all.  The Spongs and Watsons will host the May 11-13 outing at the Swiss Colony Park in Lebam. The Lewis’s and Schmittlers will host the August 24-26 outing at Rochester’s Outback, leaving hosts needed for July 20-22, Bayshore at Tokeland; and the Christmas Dinner at the Lodge, December 8.

Hosts for the remaining outings are:  Hood River Rally (Merle Lewis and Lorene Brannan, June 29-July 2), American Heritage for bluegrass (Blankenships and D. Gertschs, September 7-9, date change), Rest-a-While for the Officer’s Outing (October 12-14). Thanksgiving dinner meeting at Sons of Norway, (Greens, November 13).

SUNSHINE:  Dan Harper reported on Eileen Drumm.  The Drumms will be moving back to Kitsap soon.  Sunshine chair Judy Gertsch may be reached at (360) 895-2304.

DUES ARE DUE.  The membership chair is Bea Sande.  Dues may be paid at any meeting or mailed to her.  Her phone is (360) 275-2182.

Check out the Club store. Bill Spong has lots of Elk park books, flags, flag-holders and pins for sell at discounted prices.

Travel N Fun members who worked Hot-dogs on the Patio were the Spongs, Lillybridges, Turners and Petersons.  (And if anyone forgot, please let us know.)

Ann Smith has volunteered to co-chair Hamburgers on the Patio, but needs a co-chair.  Travel N Fun cooks and serves in May and September.  We need a historian and editor (The old scribbler has been penning your column for nearly seven years.)

The Bellings, assisted by the Davis’s, will chair swing set raffle sales.  And thanks to Dick and Stella for their hard work pushing tickets the last couple of years. Sales for the raffle will start in late April with the raffle to be held at the Lodge’s Family picnic.

Congratulations to Dan Harper for his election as president of the Washington State Winnebago Clubs. And congratulations to the Retzlaffs for their 60th wedding anniversary and the Lewis’s for their 40th.

Larry Watson maintains a web site for pictures of the outings and a newsletter archive at http://elks1181rvclub.homestead.com/2005Outings/HoodsportOct05/HoodsportOct05.html.  Pictures from other outings are also the site.  Check it out and bookmark it!

The next meeting will be Monday, March 13 at the Lodge.  Greet at six, meet at seven.
