Travel n Fun Column for April Reminder

SPECIAL NOTICE:  Travel N Fun 1181 is 25 years old this year (actually February 17).  We will be celebrating our anniversary on August 9 from 2 pm to 7 (and maybe even longer).  The event committee (Dick and Stella Davis, Bud and Lorraine Maves and Darrell and Stephanie Schmittler) is still planning, but one thing is certain.  We are inviting everyone who has been a member of the club; but twenty-five years is a long time, and we will need your help.

Dick and Stella will be searching out the address of ex-members.  If you have information, you think they might need, call them at 373-2908.Actually, two things are certain.  We will also provide food, refreshments, entertainment, awards, and maybe even speeches.

The February Valentine's Brunch was hosted by Bill and Cindy Varsafsky on the 29th at the Lodge.  Members enjoyed the Sunday brunch and celebrated the Seevers' and Buettgenbach's 50th wedding anniversaries and Juanita Spong's birthday.  Cindy and Chris Blankenship handed out prizes decorated with seed packages to nearly every couple.

And do go to the brunch, held the last Sunday of each month.  The food is provided by volunteers with proceeds going to the Tall Elks.  With made-to-order eggs and pancakes, it is one of the best brunches you will ever attend.

March 18 - 20, the club traveled to the Outback RV Park at Rochester for a weekend of music, food and fun.  The hosts, Bud and Lorraine Maves and Bud and Lou Turner, provided two breakfasts (quiche and hotcakes) and a stew dinner with crusty bread and Lou's special desert.  Campers enjoyed the Tenino Old Time Music Festival and puzzled over Lorraine's brain teasers.

April 15-18, we will be back at the home park hosted by Jim and Peggy Brooks, Dave and Judy Gertsch, Carl and Elaine Buettgenbach and Darwin and Gloria Gilchrist.  Expect games Friday and Saturday evening and a host-provided dinner.

Saturday May 13-16, hosts Dan and Margie, Frank and Bonnie Seevers and Norm and Marlene Savage take us to the Port Townsend Elks.

Expect magic. Ben and Marcella Peterson will host the Christmas dinner at the lodge, which leaves us with August at Woodland's Columbia Park and November's dinner meeting at the Sons of Norway without hosts.  If you are interested in hosting, call Chris Blankenship at 373-6416.

SUNSHINE:  Cindy had no illnesses to report.  Call her at 876-5841 if you know of a club member who is sick or injured.

May is Travel N Fun's month for Hamburgers.  Chair Bill Varsafsky needs cooks for every weekend except the first.  Call him at the above number, if you wish to flip burgers or serve beans. We still need a chair for the country store at Hood River's Northwest Elk Rally.

A long overdue thanks to everyone who has commented on how much they enjoy reading about our adventures.  But as interesting as the column may be, I guarantee the outings themselves are much more interesting and fun.  Join us if you can.
