Travel N Fun January 2004 Report

Travel N Fun is 25 years old this year.  President Sherie Lewis is looking for ideas to celebrate this important anniversary.  Call her at (360) 692-6505 if you have a suggestion.

Friday, December 12, the 1181 Campers observed the holidays with their
Annual Christmas dinner at the Lodge.  Dinner was hosted by Larry and Janice Watson with assistance from Dave and Judy Gertsch.  Besides a great dinner of salmon and steak, we enjoyed homemade cookies, tons of door prizes, and decorations enough for every couple to take one home.  Among the surprise attendees was Liz Brown; but, sadly, Jack was at the babysitter.

We also celebrated Dick Davis' 70th with cake.  Dick was born the year before Chris and Maxine Grevstad were married, so we will be celebrating another major event in '04.

An oversight:  Richard and Zara Doggett donated the hurricane lamp that was the centerpiece for our auction basket.  Thanks, guys.

We have a great slate of outings planned for 2004.  Four have hosts: February's Valentine Brunch, time and place TBD - Bill and Cindy Varsafsky; June 17 - 20 at Swiss Society RV Park in Lebam (remember that kitchen!) - the Sandes and Rotts; August 19-22 at Columbia Riverfront RV in Woodland - the Brooks, Buetgenbaughs and Dave Gertschs; October 14-17 at Rest-a-While in Hoodsport - the officers.

That leaves four outings, two dinners and the Rally needing hosts:  March 11-14, Outback RV in Rochester (another snow day?); April 15-18, at the home park in Bremerton; May 13-16, Port Townsend Elks; July 15-18, NW Rally at Hood River; September 23-26, Yakama Nation RV at Toppenish; November 8 dinner meeting; December 10 Christmas dinner at the Lodge.

Mark your calendars and if you are interested in hosting (or you have a suggestion for 2005), call Chris Blankenship at (360) 373-6416.

Thanks to Larry, pictures from previous outings may be seen on the web at http://elks1181rvclub.homestead.com/, including the great group picture from Centralia.

Sunshine:  Cindy reported on illness for Jane Lee.  If you have sunshine news, contact Cindy at (360) 876-5841 or by email at BCVarsafsky@aol.com.

The new dues for 2004 are $7.50 per person.  Payment should be made to Cathy Higdon, (360) 830-3974.

The January general meeting is Monday, the 12th at the Lodge.  Greet at 6 pm and meet at 7.

We hope everyone got their wish during the holidays (or at least the bill was not too large for the wish you gave).

We send the column to members with email addresses; but those are not current.  If you have email and are not getting the column, please mail to the address below.

If you have comments or suggestions, all 373-6416 or email garydawg@msn.com.
Please remember, nonmembers are welcome at any Travel N Fun event.  If you have an RV - motor home, trailer or camper - join us for a weekend of camping fun.
