    February Travel N Fun column

Our sympathies to the family and friends of Lil Churchman.

Our annual Valentine's Brunch will be February 29th at the Lodge, hosted by Bill and Cindy Varsafsky.  The cost of $9 per person includes tip. (Proceeds go to the Tall Elks.)  The buffet, prepared by Lodge volunteers, will be served at 9:30 am.  We will gather for a morning eye-opener at 9. If you are a leap year baby, let Cindy know at 876-5841.

March 18-21 (a date change), we travel back to the Outback RV Park at Rochester (and another March snow?) for the Tenino Old Time Fiddler Festival.  Hosts Bud and Lorraine Maves and Ed and Lou Turner have scheduled events around the Festival, but are planning at least one host provided breakfast and supper.

Festival prices are $5 for Saturday afternoon and $6 for the Friday and Saturday evening shows.  Lorraine recommends Saturday's chicken dinner.

A bit of leftover business:  Larry and Janice Watson, hosts for our Christmas dinner and Club members extend our thanks to Chaz and his crew for their fine professional service at the dinner.  You won't go wrong if you have a function at the lodge.

Recapping the remaining 2004 outings:

April 15-18, Bremerton park, hosted by Brooks, Buettgenbaughs and Gertschs;
May 13-16, Port Townsend Elks, hosts needed;
June 17-20, Swiss Society Lebam, hosted by Sandes and Rotts;
July 15-18, NW Elks Rally Hood River, hosts needed;
August 19-22, Columbia River RV Woodland, hosts needed;
September 23-26, Yakama Nation RV Toppenish, hosted by Schmittlers, Josephsons and Goulds;
October 21-24 (date change), Rest-a-While Hoodsport, officer's outing,
November 8, Thanksgiving dinner meeting, Sons of Norway, hosts needed;
December 10, Christmas dinner at the Lodge, hosts needed.

If you wish to host an outing or dinner, please contact Chris Blankenship at 373-6416 or the email address below.  Suggestions for 2005 outing sites are also welcome.

Remember President Sherie Lewis is looking for suggestions on how to celebrate Travel N Fun's 25th anniversary.

SUNSHINE:  Cindy reported on illness for Dan Harper, Jim Brooks, Peggy Brooks, Al Packard, Natalie Miller and Cathy Johnson.  If you have sunshine news, contact Cindy at (360) 876-5841 or by email at BCVarsafsky@aol.com.

We have two vacant committees:  To coordinate hamburger sales in May and September and for swing set ticket sales (the winner to be drawn at the Family Picnic.)

We have a new historian, Stephanie Schmittler.  Hosts should assure that she gets pictures, rosters and hand-outs for the outings.

It is not too early to start making your craft and woodworking items for the Rally Country Store; and we need someone to chair 1181's booths at the rally.

Look for new rosters in February.  Chris is collecting revisions, so if you have a change of address, phone or email, please give her a ring.

Thanks to Larry Watson, new pictures from last year's outings may be seen on the web at http://elks1181rvclub.homestead.com/.

The new dues for 2004 are $7.50 per person.  Payment should be made to Cathy Higdon, (360) 830-3974.

The February general meeting is Monday, the 9th at the Lodge.  Greet at 6 pm and meet at 7.

Great camping, and be kind to your valentine.If you have comments or suggestions, all 373-6416 or email garydawg@msn.com.

Please remember, nonmembers are welcome at any Travel N Fun event.  If you have an RV - motor home, trailer or camper - join us for a weekend of camping fun.
