TRAVEL N FUN COLUMN FOR OCTOBER

August 19 to 22 found the club at the Hoquiam River RV Park with the skeeters.   The outing was hosted by Bill and Juanita Spong with assistance from Dick and Natalie Miller and Marie Seling.  The weekend was games,  games, and more games - Bocce, holiboards, "golf ladder" and cards - all  leading to the outing champion team.(drum roll, please).Dick Davis and  Lorene Brannan.  In second place were Merle Lewis and Judy Gertsch with third, Carl Buettgenbach and Stella Davis.

In addition to games, the campers made crafts - greeting cards, including a long, long card for Maxine Grevstad.

Thursday evening, Travel N Fun enjoyed a delicious spaghetti feed at the Hoquiam Elks.

September found us on the other side of the state - at the Yakama Nation RV Park in Toppenish, the 23rd to 26th.  The outing was hosted by Darrell and Stephanie Schmittler, Sam and Kathy Josephson, and Ken and Nancy Gould.  Friday saw another rousing round of Left/Right/Center.  Campers trekked to the Casino for two for one buffet on Saturday evening.  We will announce the big winners for both next month.

Then in October, we are back at an old favorite - Rest-a-While RV Park, October 21 -24, for the Officer's outing.  Planned are a catered pork tenderloin dinner, oysters, breakfast prepared by the hosts, card bingo, and horse races (with maybe a trip to another casino?)

November's dinner meeting, Monday the 8th at the Sons of Norway, will be hosted by Bill and Darlene Green and Darwin and Dolores Hedin.  Friday, December 10th will be the Christmas Dinner at the Lodge hosted by Ben and Marcella Peterson.

Mark your 2005 calendars early.   The July general meeting at the shelter will be the third Monday - the 18th - instead of the second Monday as normal.  The August meeting will be on the second Monday.

SUNSHINE reported on Maxine Grevstad, now home with complications.  Please call our chair, Cindy Varsafsky, at 360-876-5841, if you have any Sunshine information.

The 2005 officers will be:  President - Sherie Lewis; Vice President -  Stephanie Schmittler; Secretary - Nancy Gould; Treasurer - Ann Smith;  Wagonmasters - Gary and Chris Blankenship; Member at Large - Darrell  Schmittler; Trustee - Sam Josephson.

Congratulations to the new and returning officers; and special thanks to those departing - Bea Sande, Bill Spong and Gary Lewis.

Bill Varsafsky, our 2004 Hamburgers on the Patio chairman, thanked all the Travel N Fun cooks and helpers for their outstanding work this season, and offered the hope he could help next year's committee.

News of the shelter - Andy Willoughby painted the floor, and a group of ladies installed curtains in the kitchen.  (But what, oh, what of the water heater?)
Travel N Fun is preparing two baskets for the Ladies of Elks' auction on Sunday, November 21 - one items gathered on the Alaska adventure; the other from a committee chaired by Juanita.  If you would like to help, give her a ring at 895-8797.
