June 2006 Travel N Fun Column
Last month was supposed to be my last, but I get to do one more; Barbara Fallehy is unavailable.
May 11 to 14, 1181 campers traveled to Port Townsend Elks for a quiet, relaxing weekend – with trips to town for shopping, Seven Cedars, Sequim, the Farmer’s Market, an art and craft show, the marina, and more. Add cards, building a castle, sitting in the wind – and it really was relaxing.
Thanks to our hosts – Bill and Juanita Spong and Larry and Janice Watson – for making it a memorable experience. Extra kudos to Janice’s breads and muffins, Sloppy Joes; Juanita’s rhubarb cobbler; the breakfast and much more. And thanks to the potluck cooks for a great meal on Saturday.
We were a small group, but we were and are fun-loving.
There was a mix-up that prevented the May meeting from happening, but June’s is on course – Monday, June 12 – greet at 6, meet at 7.
We go to Tokeland’s Bayshore RV Park July 20 to 23, hosted by the Brooks. Please call Peggy if you wish to go. If you are going to the August 24 -27 outing at Outback, call Sherie Lewis.
Members may get their ticket books for the swing set raffle from Sam and Karen Belling at any time. The raffle to be held at the Lodge’s Family Picnic. The swing set is being crafted by Darrell Schmittler. The raffle is Travel N Fun’s main fund raiser. Proceeds have supported upgrades to the Home Park, such as recent installation of heat in the restrooms, and improvements to the Lodge, such as purchase of a window.
