TRAVEL AND FUN COLUMN DECEMBER 2005

Our sympathies to Stephanie Schmittler for the loss of her father, Stan Clarke.

Congratulations to Chris and Maxine Grevstad for their 70th wedding anniversary.  Way to go, kids, still dancing on the table.

Early October found the club at Rest-a-While in Hoodsport for our annual Officer’s Outing and our first annual “Push Poker” tournament.  A two day event, Friday’s first round winners were Bill Green, Darlene Green, Chris Blankenship and Lorene Brannan.

Saturday’s play was three teams – The top two from Friday, middle out and the true losers.  Prize winners were:  Top of the Line – Karen Belling (Grand Champion), Chris, Lorene; Middle Muddlers – Sharon Lilybridge, Kathy Josephson; The Bottom – Gary Blankenship.

Saturday morning, our hosts cooked breakfast; in the afternoon, Sherie Lewis and Stephanie held pot painting lessons.  Great, clever art the result.  The day’s weather was decent enough to allow oyster picking and other outdoor fun.  Saturday’s repast was another great catered meal from Dianne.  Though how we could eat with all the trick-or-treat candy on the tables and after Friday’s potluck?

November 14 was our annual Thanksgiving dinner meeting at the Sons of Norway, hosted by the Green’s and Seevers.  The outstanding turkey feast was prepared by the Olympic College culinary program.  Entertainment was Bremerton High School’s choir, who sang “Let Freedom Ring,” “America the Beautiful” and other selections.

Thanks much to our hosts and the ladies of the Sons of Norway, Olso Lodge.

SUNSHINE:   A card was sent to Vern Rott.  If you have Sunshine, call Judy Gertsch at 360-895-2304.

Darrell Schmittler made a planter basket for Travel-N-Fun’s “Spring Garden” basket in the Lady of Elks’ auction, and Marc Amudson, the Lewis’s son-in-law, provided a bird house.

President-elect Gary Lewis needs volunteers to fill several positions in the club:  Historian, swing set raffle sales, and publicity/editor.  Bea Sande will be your 2006 membership chair and Judy will continue as Sunshine.

Dues for 2006 are due.

If you are a Coast-to-Coast member, call George Wilhite at 360-830-0196.  He has a good deal for you.

If you have any questions, news or comments, call 373-6416 or email gardawg@msn.com.
